Welcome to the home of the CC6 Cross Country League. This friendly league, organised by the running clubs of south Hampshire for their members, provides an excellent introduction to competitive racing.  Held in the winter, these local races are free to enter and take place once a month on Sunday mornings, between November and March. Distances are between 4 and 5 miles and have similar locations to those in the RR10. Men who have run faster than 6 minute per mile pace in the previous year are unable to enter. For ladies, the threshold is 6 minutes 30 seconds per mile.

CC6 RACE 5 - Stoney Cross

Final results here

Thanks to Romsey and Winchester for staging the 5th race of this years series - plenty of smiling cheerful marshals around the course but that was mabe because they were not having to run probably the hardest course of the series, especially with it so wet and muddy underfoot.

Mike Elmes from Totton won todays mens race which now draws him level with Paul Bennet from Wessex for the overall series, both having won two races and both having a second place to go with those wins - now down to the final race at Manor farm to decide the outcome.

Congratulations to Sonia Rushby of Eastleigh who not only won todays ladies race but also ensured that she now cannot be caught for the overall series winner..

In the team races, Halterworth ran out the mens winners which now means they can claim the series win and Eastleigh took the ladies race which also ensures they have won the series.

We saw the lowest turnout today for over 2 years with 37 ladies competing and 59 men, first time we have been undr 100 competitors since the 2006/2007 season.

See you all at Manor farm on the 21st

Barefoot running economy investigation - last call for volunteers

As a diversion to the recent cold weather some of you might like to take part in a running economy investigation conducted by Winchester university student, Heather Bowes. If you are interested in taking part please see the details here.

Latest update (18/02/10): Heather still needs 4 more volunteers over the next few weeks, please let her know if you can help.

CC6 RACE 4 - Olivers Battery

Results from Badger farm race availalbe on results page.

Thanks to Halterworth, Southampton and the Running Sisters for staging the race and the time spent prior to the race just trying to work out if it was feasible to go ahead - as it was the course overall was fine and I certainly will not complain about the final climb being cut short!

We had 117 runners turning out for this race compared to 182 at Dibden, 165 at Beaulieu Road and 128 at Stoney Cross; presumably numbers down on the worry about how the course would be after all the snow.

Regards
Martin
